DELLAVEDOVA is not exactly known rhyming slang for pavlova – but it one day could be if a baking competition in Maryborough takes off.

NBA franchise the Cleveland Cavaliers are funding a street party in Maryborough on Australia Day for star player Matthew Dellavedova.
As part of the fun, Central Goldfields Shire councillor Wendy McIvor has organised a Cavaliers-themed pavlova competition she hopes becomes a regular event.
The “Cav pav” contest would bring an Australian flavour to the NBA event, said Cr McIvor – who jokingly dismissed suggestion the pavlova may have originated in New Zealand.
“We’re trying to get people to support the event with the Cavs theme,” she said.
The competition, she added, was for those who wanted to get involved but who were not “sport addicts”.
Maryborough had “some of the best pavlovas in the world”, said the self-confessed “accomplished pav maker”.
As organiser, Cr McIvor is not allowed to enter.
