Each of the 21 candidates for the City of Greater Bendigo elections have been invited to the forum, which starts at La Trobe University Visual Arts Theatrette in View Street, Bendigo, at 6pm.
Candidates will be introduced by ballot order and have 90 seconds to introduce themselves and a minute to respond to media questions.
Attendees will be able to question the candidates for 15 minutes at the end of the forum.
Bendigo Business Council executive officer Patrick Falconer said it was important for candidates to outline their plans and beliefs.
“There might be someone there with radical thoughts for the council ... you just don’t know until their opinions have been aired,” he said.
“We live in a democracy and the only thing we’ve got to fight with is a vote.
“And if you don’t know what you’re voting for, the best way to find out is by coming along and learning from the candidates what best suits you.”
The forum is expected to run for a little over two hours.
“I think if we get 50 people down, we’ll be doing alright,” Mr Falconer said.
“People can just stay for their own ward and then leave if they wish.” The forum will discuss the new three ward structure and outline the new boundaries.
The forum is supported by Bendigo Advertiser, Bendigo IPTV, Bendigo Weekly, Pheonix FM and the Bendigo Business Council. Entry is free.
