Premier Daniel Andrews announced the funding on Friday during a visit to Bendigo, saying money would go towards paying for advertising and education programs, including a research project.
“I’m delighted to be able to announce $50,000 to support their work, whether it’s putting ads on the TV and celebrating all the great things Bendigo has to offer or making sure as many people as possible can be involved in the Believe in Bendigo campaign,” he said.
“We need to make sure people clearly understand how much richer and how much more prosperous Bendigo is because of the contribution of many, many different groups in many different ways.
Mr Andrews said the money “may well be a platform for further allocations in years to come”.
Believe in Bendigo was formed in September to celebrate the city’s diversity.
