Molotov cocktails were thrown at a home on Hunter Avenue just before 2am on Sunday, June 28 while a man and his teenage child slept inside.
One of several petrol bombs thrown at the house ignited causing damage to a car and smoke damage to the front of the home.
A black Veloster, with registration VAL-369, from which police believe the bombs were thrown, was seen driving up and down the street several times before the attack.
Shortly after the incident, police attempted to intercept the vehicle seen travelling at high speeds on Eaglehawk Road.
The car narrowly missed a police officer and drove towards Kangaroo Flat on High Street and was last seen on the Calder Highway.
Police are looking for anyone with information relating to persons responsible for this incident or information on the whereabouts of the vehicle used.
Call the Bendigo Police Station on 5448 1300 or Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
