Built in 1853, Junction Lodge is located on the outskirts of Carisbrook, less than 10 kilometres from Maryborough.
A legacy of Victoria's gold mining and pastoral history, the property stretches over 140 acres and boasts several bluestone buildings, including a five-bedroom homestead, stable block, wool shed, blacksmith' shop and shearers' quarters.
Rural real estate agent Josh Todd, from Ray White Ballarat, said its sale offered a once in a generation opportunity to own a significant and meticulously restored slice of Australian history.
"The multi-faceted property of wonderful bluestone buildings provides numerous possibilities for the buyer looking for something unique and rich in legacy for either lifestyle or business development," he said.
"The property offers the buyer not just a grand home and small farm, but also a potential accommodation buisness.
"It's got to go - the buyer will meet the market."
Junction Lodge was purchased 25 years ago by Bruce Williams and his late wife Beth, and developed to farm, with the various buildings fastidiously restored and maintained to retain all original features.
Mr Todd said the sale was prompted by Mr Williams' decision to downsize.
The restored Georgian homestead, with an encircling veranda, is surrounded by an attractive garden.
It contains four upstairs bedrooms, a former maid's quarters, three bathrooms and a kitchen, with the original Aga and bread oven.
The 140 acre block has been running sheep and provides excellent grazing and is suitable for cropping.
Abundant water is available via reliable bore, town supply and MacCallum Creek frontage.
Tenders for Junction Lodge close on Thursday, November 6, through Ray White Ballarat.
