Louise Adams survived a nail-biter round of the singing competition show, with a double elimination last night.
The bluesy Castlemaine crooner spent two years living and working in the central Victorian town, with her stunning voice winning over the creative community.
Joy Mullens remembers Louise not from the glamorous stage, but from splashing around in the pool teaching children how to swim.
A swim instructor herself, Ms Mullens said Louise had taken up the job as a way to keep fit and raise some money for her songwriting work, after shunning her solicitor career.
Louise hosted musical residencies and played a string of gigs at Bendigo and Castlemaine venues during her stint in central Victoria, as well as playing the Bendigo Blues and Roots Festival.
Louise returned to South Australia to be closer to her family after she fell pregnant with her daughter Frankie, and the gorgeous one-year-old has been winning just as many fans as her rocker mum on the show.
Louise’s Monday night performance of “Bang Bang” stirred judges and audience members alike, with her own take.
Her voice is a husky melding of rock, blues, country and folk.
It was her audition song that still rings in the ears of her fans – an enthralling version of Nina Simone's Feeling Good.
Judge Dannii Minogue said Louise struck exactly the right chord.
"It was outstanding yet totally understated,” she said.
Louise was skyrocketed into the music scene’s consciousness when she broke into the Top 10 on X Factor.
The 31-year-old describes herself as a late bloomer to the industry, but she stuck to her dream of singing.
"I didn't sing in front of too many people until I was 25, 26," she said on X Factor.
"I still recall the look of shock on my parents faces when I first picked up the guitar and sang a song."
For Ms Mullens, its this admirable trait that won over the hearts of so many locals.
