Middleton was accepted to the famed drama school in July and flew out to begin his Masters in Acting course this week.
“Looking at the honour roll, there are a lot of big names that have gone through,” he said.
An exhaustive selection process included online applications and a live audition in London.
“We had a three hour physical workshop, two monologues to work on and we had to devise piece of theatre with four other people,” he said.
“Then we had to write an essay and do an (entrance) interview. At the end I just went to the park and passed out. I was mentally and physically exhausted.”
Just 16 students were selected for the masters course from 1000 applicants.
“It was a big chance and a long way to go for potentially nothing but it was worth a shot,” Middleton said.
Middleton said his grandfather taught him magic tricks at a young age and would perform at Bendigo nursing homes.
“He saw I had a bit of spark. Then from about 12 I did shows with Bendigo Theatre Company and got to year 12 and applied for an arts (acting) course at University of Ballarat,” he said.
“My family have constantly supported me, I don’t think this would be possible without them.”
