The Victoria Country men and women’s open teams feature four players from Bendigo – Zach Lahn, Craig Conn, Matt Cornwall and Brioni Lahn.
All four play with the Essendon Hockey Club, but also still play locally in Bendigo on a Sunday – Zach Lahn, Cornwall and Brioni Lahn with Strathdale and Conn with Sandhurst.
Zach Lahn, Conn and Brioni Lahn have also played with Bendigo’s CV Blazers team.
Zach Lahn, 20, and Conn, 20, will both represent Victoria for the third year, with their selection coming on the back of the pair being picked in the Australian Country under-21 men’s team that played in the Pacific Oceania Cup in Fiji last December.
Brioni Lahn, 17, is playing for Victoria Country for the second time, and earlier this year was selected in the Australian Country Development under-21 team that toured Indonesia and Malaysia.
Cornwall, 24, moved to Australia from New Zealand in 2013, with this being his first selection in the Victoria Country men’s team.
Victoria will compete against Western Australia, South Australia, New South Wales, the ACT and Queensland at the Country Championships, which will be held from this Saturday to the following Saturday.
