Groom: Ewen Pritchard
Wedding: Saturday, March 28, 2015
The meeting
We met at Puggs in May 2006. Ewen offered me a sip of his Guinness because I said I had never tried it. I thought it was awful! After a bit of a mishap with Ewen losing my number he managed to track me down through his best friend’s sister and we went on our first official date a week later. Since then we have travelled to more than 15 countries together and currently are renovating our house in White Hills.
The proposal
We went out for dinner the night before my birthday. When we got home I thought Ewen was acting a little strange. A few minutes later he got down on one knee, pulling a beautiful ring out of his pocket. It was a complete surprise for me but he had been out to see my parents a few days before to ask their permission. Everyone was very excited for us and we immediately starting planning our wedding.
The wedding day
We had both our ceremony and reception at the beautiful Sandy Creek Park in Huntly. I had four bridesmaids: my two sisters Riki and Darcee and two best friends Lauren and Karen. Ewen had four groomsmen: his best friend James, his brother Giles, my brother Mitchell, and Ewen’s sister Verity was a groomswoman. We had a very colourful ceremony. The bridal party walked down a pom pom-covered aisle and were showered with pom poms instead of rose petals. The ceremony was followed by an afternoon reception of finger food, lawn games and lots of fun on a giant inflatable slide!
The dress
I wore a beautiful ivory wedding dress from Bendigo Bridal Collections.
The cake
Our cake was made by Zoe Spicer from G’Day Cupcakes. It was a three-tier ripple cake flavoured strawberry, caramel and white chocolate.
Our photographer
We met our photographer through the best man. His name is Peter Koelmeyer and he is based in Melbourne.
The honeymoon
We have a young son so decided to take more of a “minimoon” this year and hopefully go overseas in the not too distant future. We spent five nights at the Hilton in Surfers Paradise in April.
