BENDIGO'S Discovery Science and Technology Centre was embraced in a giant hug on Tuesday.
About 200 people of all ages joined hands and formed a ring around the centre to pledge their support that it remain open and operating.
Among the supporters was Zoya Makarova, who takes her children to the centre two to three times a month. She said she was angry and frustrated about its possible closure.
"My children really love the Discovery centre. It makes them feel science is part of everyday life," she said.
Students from Camp Hill Primary School took time out of class for the hug.
Marica Sevudredre, whose son Sikeli, 7, attends the school, said it would be a shame if the centre closed.
