ON a chilly June day in 2009 the man charged with the rollout of the Masters hardware chain, Grant O'Brien, now CEO of Woolworths, checked in at the four-star All Seasons Hotel in Bendigo, a Quality Inn on the McIvor Highway out the back of town.
