Next Thursday, 48 students and 20 adults from 15 Bendigo primary schools will travel to Shanghai as part of the Team China Program.
The initiative, which has been running for four years, involves students who are learning Chinese Mandarin and also includes hosting students from China in Australia.
Bendigo Violet Street Primary School principal Mandy Costello said the nine-day program allowed students to immerse themselves in a global learning experience.
"It's an opportunity to extend the kids' learning in LOTE and get a feel for life in China," she said.
"Students have taken part in two rehearsal days and are very excited."
Students will have many opportunities to hone their language skills, with the group set to visit sisters school in Suzhou and Haimen. Other activities include a trip on the Maglev train system and a tour of Shanghai.
Primary schools involved include, Camp Hill, Kennington, White Hills, Kangaroo Flat, Specimen Hill, Golden Square, Bendigo Violet Street, Maiden Gully, Eppalock, Quarry Hill, Big Hill, Marong, Epsom, Eaglehawk North and Huntly.
Students from China will visit Bendigo in Term 4 and stay for about eight weeks with local families.
