The two occupants of the Holden utility escaped unharmed when the car’s engine caught fire at 4.50pm on High Street.
CFA Station Officer Rick Flood said the car’s fuel pump leaked fuel, despite the vehicle being turned off.
The hot engine then ignited the fuel.
Two fire units attended the scene and extinguished the flames.
Mr Flood said the fire caused some minor disruptions to traffic on the busy street.
