Country and western group "KandL", made up of husband and wife duo Lee and Keith White, provided music to and from a day-trip to a Wedderburn community park, where the group had lunch.
KandL were invited along at the request of resident Mike Docksey, who said the idea was an effort to combat loneliness among some of the residents.
"I talk to about 50 people a day, and their comments are that they're lonely, especially at night," he said.
He said he was recently motivated to start a courier service for residents to try and tackle the issue.
"To get people away for the day is good for them," he said.
"I got up one day, I was feeling a bit down and I thought, I think I can provide entertainment for people.
"KandL have played here (at the village) before, I thought I'd get them on the coach. The idea went over quite well."
He said among other activities he helped organise recently were a day trip to Castlemaine and a steam-engine ride to Maldon.
Village manager Neil Drummond said he thought the live music bus was a great idea.
"It's a novelty thing we'd like to see more of," he said.
"We welcome any activities implemented by our residents, especially new residents who come to us with skills to share."
He said such events helped residents tackle the social isolation common among the elderly.
"It is a huge issue and it really needs to be helped along wherever possible," he said.
"A lot of residents seem to come out of their shell by being more social."
He said there was already a quite lively social atmosphere among village residents.
"You walk in here at 3pm or 4pm, people are sitting around together having a glass of wine," he said.
"That's what it's all about, being social."
