Most HDFL followers expect the Grasshoppers to be North Bendigo’s number one challenger.
The Grasshoppers started their campaign with an impressive win over White Hills, but Saturday’s opponent is in a different class to the Demons.
“By 5pm on Saturday night we’re going to have a fair idea if we’re in the mix or just running with the rest of the pack,’’ Morgan said on Friday.
“North Bendigo is obviously a very good side and the team to beat, hopefully we can show that we’re up to being spoken about as a top team as well.”
North Bendigo looked awesome in demolishing a weakened LBU side by 166 points in its season-opener.
The Bulldogs are $1.66 favourites to win the flag, but coach Rob Bennett isn’t buying into the hype.
“It’s only early in the year. You use the first half of the season to see where you’re at and we’re looking forward to the challenge against Colbo this week,’’ he said.
“Yes, we played well to beat LBU last week, but we have a lot of areas that we need to improve on.”
The game brings together the best forwards in the HDFL. At one end of the ground is North Bendigo’s dynamic key position duo Sam Barnes and Brady Herdman, while goalkicking machine Grant Weeks will spearhead Colbo’s attack.
Barnes bagged 12 in round one, while Weeks looked in superb touch in kicking 10 against White Hills.
In other HDFL round two games, Elmore will unveil latest signing Anthony Bonaddio when it travels to Heathcote to play the Saints, White Hills will chase its first win of the season when it hosts Huntly and Mount Pleasant meets LBU at Toolleen.
