The group will put on The Mikado from Tuesday to Saturday next week with plenty of Bendigo talent sure to shine on the Bendigo Bank Theatre stage at The Capital.
CT Productions vice president Loretta Gibson, who also performs in the show, said The Mikado had a huge follow and was one of the most performed Gilbert and Sullivan shows.
"I think it's one of those shows that stands the test of time," Ms Gibson said.
"There is also the chance to update lyrics. The Little List song is on that has contemporary refernces and when people perform it, it does get re-written to refer to local places or topical events."
The Mikado was first performed in London in 1885 and is set in a Japanese town where a beautiful school girl who loves a minstrel is engaged to an executioner.
The romantic triangle is further complicated when a lady also in love with the minstrel arrives in town.
As well as Mr Oliver, Georgina Manning and Tom Fraser feature in The Mikado as do a range of performers who take on more minor roles as well as ensemble performances.
"We have done that and Luke Oliver, who plays Ko Ko, is playing that exceptionally."
Ms Gibson said the show also has a lot of humour and despite being an operetta, uses dialogue to strings the show together.
"The music is beautiful, the costumes are beautiful, it is very lyrical and has great harmonies," she said.
"Everyone in the show is a very strong perform and in a theatre like the Bendigo Bank Theatre it will be a very intimate show."
CTProductions’ production of The Mikado, runs March 24 to 28. Bookings are available at The Capital on 5434 6100 or at www.thecapital.com.au
