This year people were able to put themselves in the shoes of their ancestors, by firing seven shots from a traditional World War 1 weapon, the .303.
The latter was organised as part of a new event, the ANZAC Centennial Shoot.
Cheryle Dolman, one of the organisers of the event, said while the VRA classic had been running for 20 years, this year was especially popular due to the Anzac centenary.
"There are people coming around from everywhere, to honour some of their past history in a new way and with the added bonus that every person gets to try something new and go home with a memento penny," she said.
“It is up to us, the people of this generation, to remember the sacrifices our families all made for us and being able to hold a weapon that your relation holds, showcases this in a completely new way,” she said.
The event allows people to showcase some of their skills in many different events, such as rapid and traditional target shooting fired over 300 and 500 yards.
Anyone can come along and experience this new take on history.
