SOUTH Bendigo scored a stunning victory against Castlemaine in Saturday’s 11th round in Bendigo Bowls division one pennant.
Playing on home greens, South Bendigo won three of four rinks.
After the final bowl, South Bendigo led 16-125 to 2-71.
A highlight for the victors was the 36-shot win by the Trevor Saltmarsh-skipped rink.
Other winning skippers for South were John Jennings by 12, and Ray McCumber by 13.
The only winning rink for the Magpies was Rod Phillps by seven shots against Greg Sherman.
Stung by a loss at Inglewood the previous round, Golden Square struck back brilliantly.
The Square rolled to a 17-shot victory against the in-form Bendigo.
Greatest margin was the 18-shot win by Tas Wallis against Gary Carberry.
Graham Edwards beat Andrew Brown by a shot.
Marc Smith scored a three-shot win against Barry Anset.
The sole winner for Bendigo was the Ian Ross-skipped rink against Gary Beckham by five shots.
Eaglehawk dominated play at Inglewood.
The ladder-leading Hawks won all four rinks on their way to a 18-131 to 0-63 victory.
Three contests ended in double-figure wins for the Borough.
Ken Rusbridge won by 27 shots, Phil Godin by 17, and Tony Ellis by 15.
Closest battle was between Simon Carter and Daryl Rowley.
The Carter-skipped rink won 30-21.
Bendigo East scored a 28-shot win on home turf against Kangaroo Flat.
The Bendigo East Magpies won three of four rinks.
Brad Holland’s rink defeated Geoff Boyd by 26 shots.
Liam Crapper won a great battle with rising star Luke Hoskin, 17-14.
The Paul Moller-skipped rink defeated Brad Marron by seven shots.
Kangaroo Flat’s Dean Carter and his team-mates bowled well to beat David Keenan by eight shots.
