We met at a friend’s party and soon learnt we were polar opposites – one of us loved words and Andy Warhol, the other obsessed with footy and Jobe Watson. But the love of simple things - and Seinfeld - was the glue that has kept us together.
The proposal
We got engaged at Cape Schanck during a game of Jenga, on a balcony overlooking the beach.
The wedding day
We got married on a sunny autumn day, at the most beautiful farm overlooking green pastures and some curious cows.
When we first drove down the driveway into the beautifully secluded valley, we knew it was the place to get married - it felt like home.
Before the wedding, our dear friend spent hours alongside Emma tying brown string around bottles and cutting up bunting, our little nieces Alex and Aleisha made flower cones and Emma's dad even spent (too) many hours deciding on the exact colour of the bouquet roses.
The whole day was spectacular and totally surreal, from getting ready in the morning with a dedicated song playlist - featuring MJ - to the last moment of collapsing with happiness on the wet grass.
As Emma said when standing outside the chapel with jelly legs, just about to walk down the aisle with her dad, "all these people are here for us - and what an adventure it will be".
The reception was a true party too - we laughed 'til our bellies hurt and smiled 'til our faces ached - and to be together with those we love - to share our love - totally humbled us.
We were lucky the day was not just about us - but about our special few.
The dress
Emma wore a Stella York dress - in a princess style she never imagined wearing. It was big and covered in beautiful lace - and hilariously fun to wear. It was a two-man job to get her inside the car and took a full bridal team to get it on and laced up.
The cake
We wanted something simple for the cake - and went for two little birds sitting atop a two tier cake. Of course it was filled with white chocolate raspberry and chocolate.
The photographer
Darin Collison.
The honeymoon
We spent two weeks in Japan - to stop, reflect and just be. We still have no words about the trip, just gratitude in our hearts for all the lessons learnt and experiences shared.
