The campaign, which started as a Facebook event last year, encourages the community to say thanks to the country's firefighters by displaying a red balloon out the front of their homes on February 28.
The idea was the brainchild of Bendigo's Jody Hardiman and Aleasha Gilbert, and Steve Lang from Frankston and Craig Hamilton from Benalla.
Last year's campaign sold 45,000 balloons and raised more than $20,000, which was donated back to fire services in each state. About $1000 was also made in monetary donations.
Ms Hardiman said the committee was selling stubby holders and bumper stickers as well as balloons this year.
She said organisers would be at Strathfieldsaye IGA on January 12, and Long Gully IGA on January 22 and 26 to sell merchandise.
Ms Hardiman said supporting National Red Balloon Day was a "simple way" to say thanks to firies.
"By supporting us you are supporting the firefighters and the amazing work they do," Ms Hardiman said.
"They deserve to be recognised for their efforts."
