Young guns Kate Douglass, from Bendigo Cricket Club, and Letesha Bawden, from White Hills, lead the charge in the Northern Rivers under-14 squad for the January 14-16 carnival in Melbourne.
Both played for Victoria during 2014.
Colbinabbin junior Mardi Ryan joins them in her first regional team.
The girls will be up against the likes of defending champions Central Highlands, with five players from last year’s winning grand final side back and aiming to repeat the performance.
Locals in the team include Barkers Creek pair Ella Rose Hayes and Bridie Semmens, and Gisborne team-mates Georgia Paton and Imogen and Bridget Barlow.
The Barlows are among four in the squad to have represented Victoria.
Bendigo’s Lisa Cain, who came up through the junior Northern Rivers pathway, will coach the region’s under-16 team with Tim Kelly.
Her playing group includes Bendigo United teen Charlotte Starr, and Sam Reaper from Mandurang.
The Central Highlands under-16 squad features Choney Meemusour from Guildford Cricket Club, who represented Victoria on the football field this year, Gisborne pair Georgia Kerr and Bianca McKay and Woodend’s Jessica Dugdale-Walker.
