How did you get involved in basketball? I started playing domestic basketball in February 2012. My sport before that was swimming, which I had been doing since the age of two, but I was looking at taking up a team sport. Because of my height, basketball seemed like the obvious choice.
What do you love about it? I love the competitiveness and energy of the game and it is always good to know you have a team to support you.
Major basketball achievements:
Victorian squad for Australian Junior Country Basketball Cup, under-16 in 2014 and under-18 in 2015
National Intensive Training Pprogram, 2013-14 and 2014-15
Bendigo Junior Braves under-16A squad 2012-13 and 2013-14, training partner for under-18A squad 2014-15
What do you hope to gain from your time in the NITP? I hope to get better in areas such as dribbling, shooting and finding my place on the floor. Also, meeting more people is a bonus.
What has been the highlight of your basketball career so far? When I was accepted into the Junior Braves under-16A squad with only a few months experience of playing basketball behind me. It was really exciting. Also, playing in Albury in January 2014 for the Australian Junior Country Basketball Cup was a fantastic experience.
What are your future basketball goals? I would love to be able to get a scholarship to America to play college basketball. But playing for the Bendigo Lady Braves or Bendigo Spirit would be amazing as well.
