Bendigo Spirit star and four-time Olympic basketballer Kristi Harrower, Olympic hurdler Kyle Van der Kuyp and Bryce Selwood, father of AFL players Joel, Troy, Adam and Scott will also take part.
The national conference will be held on November 10 and 11 at The Capital in Bendigo.
It is the first conference of its type to specifically target issues of critical importance to sport in regional Australia.
Organiser Dr Matthew Nicholson from Latrobe’s Centre for Sport and Social Impact said Bendigo was chosen because of its reputation and tradition as a sporting city.
Dr Nicholson said regional and rural Australia had lower levels of sport participation and physical activity, higher costs of travel to sport events and competitions and less access to high quality training and testing facilities.
Two days of presentations by 60 speakers from across the sport industry will analyse a range of key and controversial issues.
The issues to be discussed include nutrition, sport psycholoty, coach welfare and development, sport sponsorship, volunteering.
Malthouse and Parkin are multiple premiership-winning coaches.
Parkin was named Carlton’s coach of the century.
Charlesworth coached the Australian women’s and men’s hockey teams in two separate eras.
