The City of Greater Bendigo endorsed the Kangaroo Flat Community Plan in December 2009 and the number one priority of this community was the creation of a new pool complex.
The pool project has been number one priority of our elected council.
One has to ask the question: where does the project sit at this very moment?
Our elected council has gone through a municipal aquatic strategy in 2010, a business case in 2011, and then endorsement of a 50 metre pool in 2012.
The current group of councillors endorsed the release of the current plans in March 2013.
Then the project got huge support from the Victorian government with a $15 million allocation, which is understood to be the biggest amount given to a pool project other than the Commonwealth Games and is available right now through the current budget.
Local residents threw their support behind the project with a commitment of $100,000 from the Kangaroo Flat and District Community Enterprise.
It is time to make a start on this much-needed facility for our community.
Our council can no longer sit on their hands as it is time to deliver a project that the community asked for five years ago.
The time for action is now!
