But there's another reason to marvel when passing through, and that's pop-up art gallery, the Museum of Truth and Lies.
People are invited to use their imagination to challenge fact, history and truth.
It's part of a broader research project funded by the federal government and the Central Goldfields shire to encourage the community to create art.
Under the guidance of professional artists, residents of the region have clearly enjoyed creative freedom in the context of collaboration.
A mask hanging on a wall has a caption underneath, just like in a history museum: "Stolen by an ASIO agent", it reads. Another reads: "Six hundred years old, found in a cave".
A group of painted legs hang from the ceiling, inspired by the saying, 'just pullin' ya leg'. Artist, Geoff Bonney, pulls one of the legs and a recording of a child's voice responds: "I'm a zombie and I'm going to get you at night".
Outside there's a series of faux archaeological artefacts made with sand and golden shovels are a nod to the "Gold" fields.
"It's an open brief really," Mr Bonney said.
"The community have embraced it.
"If they have never made art before, they can with us".
The museum is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 11am to 4pm. It closes November 23.
