Council will be asked to seek ministerial approval to publicly exhibit the planning scheme amendment needed fort he development to proceed.
The amendments result from extensive investigation and reviews over the past 10 years.
The investigation identified 313 hectares of farming land to the northwest of Marong, as the preferred location to accommodate industrial growth for the next 30 years.
The Marong Business Park has been recognised as a priority in the Loddon Mallee South Regional Growth Plan, which has been signed off by the Minister for Planning.
The plan caters for a doubling of Greater Bendigo's population to 200,000.
The plan to be considered states that it "identifies Marong as a future employment hub for the region and recommends accelerating the development of the Business Park as a key new location for industry and business."
The proposed business park would be a purpose-built estate designed to accommodate a range of business operators across the industrial, transport and business sectors.
The business park proposal also includes 13 hectares of passive open space and a network of walking and cycling trails that link the business park with the Marong township.
Rezoning the site from a farming zone to a comprehensive development zone would address the predicted demand for suitably zoned industrial and business land in the future.
If approved by the Minister for Planning, the amendment will be exhibited for a six-week period.
