SOME questions arose in Web Words in the October 13 edition of the Bendigo Advertiser that I would like to address.

A couple of your readers commented on a report on The Salvation Army having to make two workers redundant, reported by Hannah Carrodus the October 11 edition.
One reader asks, “How much do the Salvos pay their staff?”
Staff that are in the employ of The Salvation Army are paid award rates.
The same reader writes, “Perhaps if the Salvos are prepared to be transparent on their donations, so we the public know where exactly our donations are going, then maybe the public will donate more.”
The Salvation Army is extremely transparent in all its financial dealings and anybody who is interested can view our annual report online at www.salvationarmy.org.au/en/Who-We-Are/Publications-reoprts-submissions/Reports--Submissions/Annual-Reports/
The 2014 report will be available online very shortly.
If any readers would like to domate they can do so at www.salvationarmy.org.au/en/get-involved/Donate/ or by calling 13 72 58.
Another reader mentioned, “No doubt the payout for sex offences have also taken a toll.”
I can assure this reader and every other reader that not one cent of any money that is donated by the Australian public has been or will be used in paying compensation to victims of sexual abuse.
