The man appeared at Bendigo Magistrates Court via video link from the Bendigo police station this afternoon.
He had intended to make an in-person bail application, but the case was adjourned until tomorrow due to time constraints.
EARLIER: Sexual Crime Squad detectives have charged a man following the alleged sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl in Seymour on May 29.
The alleged incident occurred at a railway underpass near Victoria Street about 3.50pm.
Police arrested the 25-year-old Seymour man at a property in Bendigo this morning.
He has been interviewed and charged with assault with intent to rape, indecent assault and unlawful assault.
He will be appearing before the Bendigo Magistrates Court this afternoon.
