BENDIGO SES media spokeswoman Natalie Stanway said members were currently attending five incidents where water is believed to have caused building damage.
"If you do need assistance we ask you to call us on 132 500," she said.
"Doing repairs yourself is dangerous. We have specially trained staff that can help."
UPDATE 9PM: Bendigo is heading for its wettest day of the month.
The Bureau of Meteorology reports 7.6 millimetres of rain has fallen on the city since a storm passed through at 5.30pm.
Heavy rain continues to fall.
Bendigo had received only 14.6 millimetres of rain in September with the wettest day being September 2 when 9.6 millimetres was recorded.
The long-term average for September in Bendigo is 50.7mm.
EARLIER: A STORM sweeping through Bendigo has drenched the city.
Bureau of Meteorology figures show 4.4 millimetres of rain fell in the storm which arrived around 5.30pm.
The height of the storm was at 5.54pm when 1.4 millimetres fell in six minutes.
The temperature fell from 16.3 degrees to 14.3 degrees as the storm moved over the city accompanied by thunder and lightning.
Bendigo Advertiser readers have used our social media to report the rain event was isolated.
Shelli reported 'a good drop' at Kangaroo Flat while Selina Mullins said there had been 'truckloads' in the same area.
Trish Biggs said Golden Square had seen 'good heavy rain'.
Sharyn Chandler wrote: ''Haven't got a gauge, but it was a hell of a lot''.
Stacey Kelly wrote: ''Bucketing down in Harcourt North. Has been for about 15 minutes''.
Other readers reported heavy rain in Cal Gully, White Hills, North Bendigo and Mandurang South.
But Nicole Morley reported no rain at Maiden Gully, while it was the same for Kylie Cleever at Lockwood South and Lauren Burch in Sailors Gully.
Sue Gork said Muckleford got '10 drops', Jamie Morgan said Strathfieldsaye 'got smashed by a few drops' and Leanne Frawley added Epsom got a 'sprinkle'.
Lauren Owens was a little more colourful: ''Bugga all! One flash of lightning and a clap of thunder shower and all over red rover''.
The bureau predicts the rain event will be short lived with a cloudy day and 20 degrees forecast for Thursday.
