This is something you would expect from a man who has been an employee for more than three decades.
The Bendigo resident celebrated 35 years with the company last week - a special milestone.
"I didn't really plan (to stay with the company) this long. It just sort of happened that way," he said.
"In saying that, as far as working in Bendigo in this industry, you probably couldn't find a better employer to work for."
Mr Gillespie was working at Magnet Motors when he saw a position with Haw Poyser Motors - the name of the company at the time.
It wasn't long before he became an employee.
Mr Gillespie started off as a parts interpreter before becoming second-in-charge of parts management.
He then worked as a company representative but later took over the position of truck parts manager.
Mr Gillespie said his colleagues were his family.
"There is a core group of guys that have worked here - we are pretty close," he said.
"They are like brothers.
"(And the company's owners) have been fantastic, really good people."
Mr Gillespie said the industry had changed dramatically during his time with Poyser Motors.
"Everything has gone from manual to digital," he said.
"Everything is done online now - it's a huge difference.
"Not always for the better but it's different. I know for certain we did some things better years ago."
Poyser Motors car parts manager Dick Loam has worked alongside Mr Gillespie for about 30 years.
He said Mr Gillespie said he was a conscientious worker, who went above and beyond for his customers.
"To last 35 years in the industry, especially with the way that it has changed over the last 10 years, is a credit to Terry," he said.
"He will go above and beyond to ensure he gets the right part at the right time for the customer."
Poyser Motors is at 119-141 Midland Hwy, Epsom.
