Bridegroom: Gary Pietrzykowski
Wedding: March 1, 2014
The meeting
Gary and Narelle met at St Peter Chanel Church in Deer Park, Melbourne, in 2008. The occasion was a Catholic youth group induction.
Gary has vivid memories of the day. “Narelle came in late, forgot the facilitator’s name and clearly made a big impression on me.”
Narelle has no recollection of Gary being there at all.
“I was very involved in helping people affected by the Black Saturday bushfires, and soon after discovering Gary had a ute, he would come with me to Marysville and Kinglake. The ute would be piled high with clothes, toys and furniture as we made our deliveries.”
The wedding day
We were married in the pretty St Joseph’s Church in Rochester and held our reception at the Bendigo and District Servicemen’s Club. The maid of honour was my sister Melanie Jarvis and bridesmaid Ruth Burrill one of my best friends.
Our junior bridesmaid was Paige Pietrzykowski, Gary’s niece.
Gary had my brother Russell and his brother Wayne as groomsmen.
We had a ball with the bridal waltz, as the music by Chicago and their song You’re The Inspiration accompanied us on the dance floor.
The dress
I bought my dress at Kylie Js in Sydney Road, Brunswick. It was a beautiful A-line lace dress with a diamante waistline and a long train. My bouquet was shaped into a heart, and was full of gorgeous ruby red roses.
The cake
Our cake was a three-tiered mud cake with the top layer a traditional fruit cake. It was made by Yvonne Wood and was decorated with matching red ribbons and roses.
The photographer
Gary from Gary Priest’s Photo & Video Packages did an excellent job, capturing the day beautifully.
The honeymoon
We went to Oahu, Hawaii for nine days. The trip was a gift from my uncle. It was an amazing time. We saw whales, swam and walked in the most beautiful beaches, snorkelled, and toured the island and Pearl Harbour, too.
