The 43-14 win over the Geelong Buccaneers was the Warriors’ 10th Vic Bowl win in the past 14 years.
It was the second-straight season the Buccaneers have gone through the regular season undefeated only to lose to Monash in the Vic Bowl.
Played in front of a good crowd at Tom Flood Sports Centre, the Warriors scored on their first drive of the game and never looked back.
Running back Luke Jackson scored the first touchdown and proceeded to torment the Buccaneers’ defence all night.
The Warriors piled on 27 unanswered points in the first half.
The Buccaneers scored the first six points of the second half, but it did little to stop the Warriors momentum.
By three quarter-time the margin was out to 30 and the Warriors cruised through the final quarter to win comfortably.
Not surprisingly, Jackson was named Vic Bowl MVP.
Geelong coach Gary Wilson praised the Warriors for their performance.
“Monash jumped us in the first half, we came out slow and we never got back into it,’’ Wilson said.
Warriors coach Ralph Maggio celebrated another championship.
“I love these guys and it seems we’re destined to keep playing against Geelong in every final we play,’’ Maggio said.
“Well done to everyone, it was really well fought.”
