The girls team and a boys team will represent BSSC Lions gainst other schools from across the state on Monday.
Lacrosse Bendigo’s Gino Iuliano held several come and try sessions at the school over the past few weeks, igniting the students’ enthusiasm for the sport.
Follow up training sessions held by Iuliano and teacher Roy Preece has meant that more than 20 students earned a spot in the school’s teams.
"Our college is always willing to provide the opportunity for our students to compete in unique sports,” Bendigo Senior’s director of sport Vicki Poyser said.
“With the support of the Lacrosse Association over the years we have been able to develop an exciting alternative for our students.
“Many students in our lacrosse squad are elite in another sport and others are experiencing competitive sport at state level for the first time.”
Iuliano said the competition was a great chance for students to gain experience within the sport.
He said most of the students involved in the team were playing lacrosse for the first time.
Eight schools will compete under the round-robin format on the Altona pitches.
The top two teams will play-off for the championship title.
The event will be held on Monday at Paisley Park in Altona.
