The latest statistics show an unemployment rate of 6.2 per cent for July, a 2.5 per cent decrease on the June rate of 8.7 per cent.
The statistics show Bendigo's unemployment rate sits below the state average of 6.6 per cent for July but above the national average of 6.1 per cent for the same month.
Future Employment Opportunities general manager Justin Forrester said the unemployment rate tended to drop during June due to the end of the financial year.
"People don't tend to employ during June, and July often sees a jump because everyone has a new budget and reactivates," he said.
However, Mr Forrester said quarterly statistics were a better long-term indicator of the unemployment rate.
He said during last year's December quarter, central Bendigo's unemployment rate sat at 6.7 per cent.
Mr Forrester said his business worked with people in Eaglehawk to provide training, employment placement services and enterprise activities for job seekers of all ages in central and northern Victoria.
He said Future Employment Opportunities strived to create jobs and develop job seekers' employability skills.
Mr Forrester said young people struggled to re-engage with their education after dropping out of school, limiting their chance of finding long-term employment.
"I am seeing a lot of young people disengage from school because traditional learning methods do not work for them," he said.
"They drop out of school and end up unemployed because they don't gave access to the next step.
"Five out of 10 kids aren't motivated to learn - it's an ongoing problem."
Mr Forrester said community enterprises like the Eaglehawk Recycle Shop helped create jobs for people.
