Senior forecaster Scott Williams said gusts of up to 70 to 80 kilometres per hour would reach the area.
But he said the winds were not expected to be damaging.
Mr Williams said the weather would be milder further north in Bendigo with gusts reaching 60 to 70 kilometres per hour.
He said the bureau did not expect winds in the region to reach 90 kilometres per hour - the minimum speed considered to be the threshold to damage trees and property.
But he said it would be a "windy week" in the region.
"Thursday looks like being a repeat, perhaps even stronger," Mr Williams said.
"We are in for a pretty windy week."
He said the strongest gusts expected for Tuesday were at Mount Williams in the Grampians and in coastal areas.
