Bendigo and Adelaide Bank's subsidiary Community Telco yesterday launched the Redy payment system for smart watches.
Rather than paying on an EFTPOS machine, people with a Samsung Gear 2 and Redy app need only wave their watch past the store's receiver for their transaction to be completed.
While this may seem like a pointless or unnecessary invention to some, think about all the time you'll save every time you're at a shop.
You would no longer have to fish in your bag for your purse, which would inevitably have fallen between the hole in the lining and million other things you have in there.
Rather, you just flick your wrist and you're done!
You might think only the ridiculously rich or lazy would buy such a contraption for the sake of saving a few seconds, but you're wrong.
Those precious seconds add up, as does the energy expended in your purse search, and when people see their friends making the most of this convenient technology they will want to as well.
If it's going to make our lives easier, we should welcome it.
