Teams from Northern Districts (Barham), Rich River, Kyabram, Shepparton, Spring Gully, South Bendigo and participants from the Bendigo TA development program will play on the Nolan Street courts.
“It’s really important to be able to provide young players quality playing opportunities through the winter time,” said tournament director and BTA executive officer Leon Retallick.
“Although there are often many opportunities for Bendigo players in competition, tournaments and squad trainings, the opportunities for the other squads at this time of year are few and far between. These challenge days provide players the chance to continue to develop their games, and build towards the summer season.”
This Sunday is the third challenge tournament of a series of five events, which run from May through to September.
The BTA is also gearing up for two high level events in September.
The Bendigo Platinum AMT is on from August 31 to September 4.
The tournament is a Platinum level Australian Ranking Points event which provides a $10,000 prize purse for competitors.
It is the first time since 2011 that the Bendigo TA has delivered an event at this level, with more than 100 of Australia’s strongest players set to compete.
