Grace, 13, spent her early years at Sutton Grange until the family moved to Melbourne. Relatives in Bendigo and the surrounding area are barracking for her from afar.
Grace's mother Rachael, who grew up in Bendigo, is proud of how far her daughter has come in the national TV contest. Grace is now in the top five contestants on Delta Goodrem's team.
On Wednesday night she won a battle round against two other contestants singing Burn by Ellie Goulding.
"It was so much fun, getting to sing with two other people," Grace said.
A highlight was the rehearsal process with Delta.
"She gave us a lot of tips and she just pointed us all in the right direction," she said.
"There were a few harmonies in the song and none of us had done that before. Delta told us to focus on our own bits, not get carried away with other girls' bits.
"It was amazing to know I was getting coached by Delta Goodrem who I’ve looked up to for so many years."
Grace started formal singing lessons three years ago and has decided that she wants to pursue singing as a career.
"I just love being able to get up on a stage and let my voice be heard," she said.
Mother Rachael said Grace had always been a good singer. "I noticed from when Grace was a really small child, when she was two or three, that she had a good singing voice," Rachael said.
She said Grace was often asked to sing solos and perform in school productions.
In grade one at primary school, Rachael said she realised Grace's potential when she was chosen from among much older students to sing a solo.
Last year at a school musical, friends came to Rachael telling her to let Grace audition for The Voice Kids.
The family were amazed to see Grace make it through to the blind auditions from an initial pool of 8000 children.
