Wyche led 33-nil at the first break of the contest on Birchip-Watchem’s turf at George Cartwright Oval.
By half-time the Bulls were within eight points, but Wyche kicked away to lead 73-58 at a quarter to go.
Inspired by the play of Daniel Castellano in attack, Birchip-Watchem scored 6.1 to a goal in the last term to win 95-79.
Castellano finished with a match-high eight goals in a best afield performance.
Joel Cusack and Jacob Noonan chipped in with two apiece.
Leading goalkickers for Wycheproof-Narraport were Ricky Allan, five; and Sam Driscoll, three.
The Bulls’ best included Zach Holmes, Joel Cusack and Sean Hogan.
Best for Wyche were Joel Turner, Sam Driscoll and Rhylie Botheras.
Wedderburn dominated its clash with Boort on the Redbacks’ turf at Donaldson Park.
The Burners won 23.22 (160) to 10.12 (72).
The league’s leading goalkicker, Sam Barnes went further ahead in the title race as he booted eight goals against the Magpies.
A first-year player at the Redbacks after being recruited from Sandhurst, Paul Prime capped a great game by kicking five goals.
One of several of Golden Square’s premiership-winning stars who headed to Wedderburn for this season, Nathan Bell was best afield in the team’s latest victory.
Daniel Gash, Cameron Perry, Prime and Barnes were among the best for the Redbacks.
Boort’s leading goalkickers were Charles McAdam, three; Sam Taylor and Andrew White, two each.
The Magpies’ best were Aaron Wilson, Charles McAdam, Sam Taylor and Jesse Smith.
St Arnaud scored an 83-point win against Donald at Lord Nelson Park.
The Saints led by 52 points at half-time and kicked on to win 22.24 (156) to 11.7 (73).
A dozen players kicked goals for St Arnaud, with Nathan Coghlan best on four.
The Donald attack was led by Seamus Young on six goals.
Best for St Arnaud were James McNamee, Lachlan Cunningham, Brad Palipuaminni and Ambrose McIntyre.
Donald’s best were Glenn Wyatt, Brody Haddow, Seamus Young and Will McAllister.
In this Saturday’s round, Donald takes on Charlton, Wedderburn plays Birchip-Watchem, and St Arnaud tackles Boort. Wycheproof-Narraport has the bye.
