The mother-of-two is an active member of the autism community and was influential in setting up Australia's first live broadcast Autism Radio program.

Soon after, she put forward a proposal for an Autism Resource Centre to be operated by the autism community.

Ms Kelly said she was stunned at the nomination.

"I don't do it for the awards," she said.

"I do it for the love of it.

"I am very humbled that someone has recognised my work."

Mr Kelly has been nominated for the Regional Victoria Living Expo Leadership and Innovation Award category.

Finalists will be presented and winners announced at a gala presentation dinner at Etihad Stadium in October.

All nominees not successful in reaching the finals but able to attend the awards dinner will also be presented on stage with a framed certificate in recognition of their achievements.

Prizes include $2000 from Bank of Melbourne.
