The final score was Darebin 35.20.(230) to Bendigo 0.0(0) on Sunday afternoon at AH Capp Reserve.
Jeffrey said he was proud of his team's efforts against the ladder-leaders.
"We kept them to 15 goals less compared to when we played them last time," he said.
"The opposition also shared its glowing praise of what we have been able to achieve so far this season.
"We wanted to have a crack against Darebin and that is what we did."
Jeffrey said Bendigo put a great effort in the first half.
"We conceded just 15 goals in the first half and we put in a solid second quarter," he said.
"I was really happy with that."
The Thunder then suffered several injuries, with Darebin capitalising, scoring a massive 20 goals in the second half.
"Michelle Barkla got a knock and tried to play on but couldn't and there were also a couple of minor injuries to other players," he said.
"We had a depleted bench which then affected our rotations, fatigue also kicked in."
Jeffrey said Bendigo would continue to improve in the second half of the season, with several key players set to return.
Bendigo will next play VU St Albans in Kangaroo Flat on July 12.
