Carmel Bourne capped another great run by winning the Bendigo Advertiser cup for the A-grade championship.
It was Bourne's fifth club title in six attempts.
On the final day she played talented youngster Kristi Bilkey in the 18-hole matchplay.
Bourne netted another club title after a 5 and 3 victory.
"The first round was appalling," Bourne said of her championship campaign.
"In the second I played a lot better, and today I was consistent at most holes."
“Today there was not really a bad shot in my round.
“I did miss a regulation putt at the 12th, but the beauty of matchplay is you focus on the next hole.”
Bourne said playing against Bilkey was a great challenge.
“Kristi has a lot of talent. She is going to be extremely hard to beat in the future.”
Bourne was presented with the Bendigo Advertiser cup by editor Rod Case.
Bilkey’s score of 75-80-155 earned the Mrs J.W. Cook trophy for best aggregate nett across all grades.
The B-grade final ended in a 6 and 4 win for Tracey Jefferies against Sue Thorpe.
Jefferies was presented with the Mrs E.G. Townsend trophy.
In the C-grade final, Bev McCaig won 5 and 4 against Sandy Ellis.
McCaig’s play earned the Mrs C.M. Douglass trophy.
Yesterday’s play included par for those not in the championship.
Playing off a mark of 12, Liz Raftery finished on square and won on countback from Pam Squire (35).
Opponents in the final round of the club championship, Carmel Bourne and Kristi Bilkey will team up for Women’s Golf Bendigo District in the upcoming division one matches at the Country Teams Event.
A fund-raiser for the WGB Country Teams campaign will be held on July 11 at Bendigo Golf Club.
