THE state government will invest $12 million into a program to help young people to build the skills needed for life after secondary school.

Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell said community groups could apply for grants of up to $150,000 to deliver initiatives for young people as part of the Engage program.

"The program is a good example of the government's commitment to providing young people with more opportunities to be involved in the community.

"The funds will support organisations to deliver a range of initiatives."
