The two-day forum was an initiative of the Mental Health Carer Support Program, a component of Carer Support Services.
The event aimed to provide education from some of Victoria’s premier mental health, drug and alcohol services.
The forum was also designed to provide respite and self-care tips for carers.
"There was about 60 people in and out both days so the message is well and truly getting out there," event spokeswoman Bec Patterson said.
"There were lots of tears as some very special psychiatric client services staff facilitated a panel and there were lots of carers expressing their grief and sadness about their loved ones and the battle of navigating the mental health systems."
