Ms Rice left Footscray about five days ago and intends to ride through Rushworth, Shepparton, Wangaratta and Wodonga before catching the train to Canberra.
While in Bendigo, Ms Rice said she would visit the Wellsford Forest and talk to members of the Wellsford Forest Conservative Alliance about their campaign to give the forest national park status.
"From what I have heard, the values indicate that it could be worthy of (national park status)," she said.
"But I will have to wait and learn more about it (before giving my opinion)."
Ms Rice said she would also talk to local residents about renewable energy and refugees.
"I grew up in the western suburbs and there was lots of diversity there," she said.
"The population is full of people from different backgrounds and people need to recognise this."
