A CHANCE to play on the MCG is at stake when Bendigo Senior Secondary College's and Catholic College Bendigo's boys' football teams contest Wednesday's semi-finals in Collingwood.
First and second in their pool, BSSC and CCB will take on Box Hill and Hallam respectively at the Magpies' spiritual home at Victoria Park.
Bendigo Senior won all three matches in the preliminary rounds of the School Sport Victoria premier league action.
Two of the key players in the BSSC Lions line-up are onballers/forwards Fergus Payne and Matthew Chisari.
Payne played for the Lions in last year's semi-final against Hallam at Victoria Park.
Payne believes a strong defence and higher level of pressure has played a big part in the Lions winning run.
"Our backline is tight-knit and made it difficult for the opposition to win a lot of contested marks," Payne said.
Payne and Chisari are also team-mates with the Bendigo Bank Pioneers in the TAC Cup under-18s competition.
Chisari moved from Mildura to begin the specialist sports program at BSSC and play for the Pioneers.
He has played the past three rounds in the TAC Cup and is living in Bendigo with older brother and Morrish medallist, Jacob.
The day's play at Collingwood begins at 10.30am when the Lee Coghlan-coached CCB clashes with Box Hill.
