The Thunder hosted Diamond Creek at Dower Park on Sunday afternoon with Hopkins booting the first goal in the opening term.
It was Bendigo’s only score for the game, losing by 119 points.
The final score, Bendigo Thunder 1.0(6) to Diamond Creek 18.17(125).
Bendigo Thunder coach Russell Jeffrey said his team was a work in progress.
Jeffrey said Diamond Creek’s first quarter score was the lowest any opposition had scored against them this season.
“This is our fourth game together, the girls are still learning to play with one another,” Jeffrey said.
Hopkins’ goal came off the back some great team work said Jeffrey.
“We really attacked the ball coming off half back and against the odds Ingrid (Hopkins) kicked the goal,” he said.
“It really uplifted the team.
"It was a great reward for all the hard work the girls have put in over the past six to seven weeks.
“Hopefully there is more goals to come this season.”
Jeffrey said their was some great performers throughout the game.
He said he was optimistic about the Thunder’s chances in the second half of the season.
“We will continue to build as a team,” Jeffrey said.
“We have players to come back into the squad which will strengthen each line.”
