City of Greater Bendigo Mayor Barry Lyons declared the flick be switched.
Minutes later and the two greens nearest the clubhouse were well and truly lit up by the 250 lux lights on the towers.
Cr Lyons said the $60,000 project was completed on time and on budget.
South Bendigo Bowls Club contributed $5000.
"This is a great club with a big future," Cr Lyons said.
"Through these lights there will be more opportunities for club members and bowlers across the region to play."
Club director Mike Greenwood said the lights would be a huge asset.
He congratulated the team at DeAraugo and Lea Electrical, the City of Greater Bendigo and club members for their support to the lights project.
"For 110 years this club has played a key role in the community," Greenwood said.
"We have run programs for the schools, bowls for the blind, and Tuesday Nighters is always popular.
"But in many ways we have only operated at 50 per cent of potential because we have only had bowls during the day.
"Now we can reach 100 per cent potential. I am sure there a lot of bright ideas within the club to run more competitions under lights."
