Ascot's Trenfield family is starting from scratch three weeks after a Spring Gully family lost everything when its home caught fire.
The Trenfields' home caught alight on Sunday morning, sparing few possessions.
But the community has been quick to pledge money and essential items to help get the family back on its feet.
The Trenfields have five children, one of whom has a disability.
Epsom's Rachelle Fox has set up a bank account and paypal account so people can donate money. She doesn't know the family personally but wanted to help.
"Their son Jaylan goes to the same school as my son," Miss Fox said.
"He is physically disabled and uses a wheelchair," she said.
"A bunch of mums at school got together and were collecting clothes and I thought they might need cash as well.
I'd like to hope that somebody would help us.

"It's another family with a special-needs child and you just want to help. I'd like to hope that somebody would help us."
Miss Fox said she began the campaign on Sunday night and had already received lots of interest.
She said people's willingness to help was "awesome".
The campaign, called Fundraiser for Jaylan, will go until June 1, when Miss Fox will give the family a cheque.
Miss Fox said Turn A Life Around – Bendigo had already arranged a replacement iPad for Jaylan to use at school and home.
Bendigo Special Development School vice principal, Jacqui Righetti, is the project's founder.
Ascot resident Jasmine McInerney saw the Trenfields' rented house on fire on Sunday.
"I was driving back from Epsom Village and I saw smoke coming out of the roof," Ms McInerney said.
"I called the fire brigade and one truck was already on its way," she said.
"I realised I know the family from when I used to work for a disability service."
Ms McInerney said had planned to start up a fundraising campaign but other people had already done it.
She said she was using facebook to encourage people to donate.
