The Department of Environment and Primary Industries and Parks Victoria coordinate the seasonal road closure program to ensure driver safety and protect forests and park roads from damage during the cooler months.
DEPI state roads and bridges planning manager Tony Dowler said roads and tracks closed from May 13 and more would close from June 13.
"The early closures are necessary in some parts of the state because the roads and tracks in our parks and forests have the potential to become very wet," he said.
"The closures are important because our forest roads and tracks become much more difficult for drivers to use safely over this period.
"Some forest tracks would suffer significant damage if they were open all year round so we assess them each year and after consultation with key stakeholders including Four Wheel Drive Victoria close any that require it."
